Steam pauses the download of games when playing steam games?

Hi, im downloading Crysis with Steam right now. And i want to play TF2 at the same time, but steam pauses the download when i launch tf2.

Are there any way to turn this off?

I don't think there is a way. It's a feature that keeps the downloading files from interfering with your game. My best suggestion is to just wait until Crysis is done downloading to play Team Fortress 2.Steam pauses the download of games when playing steam games?
steam shuts downloads off while playing because most people have regular DSL packages (which these days resembles dial up- no offense but its slow now) and if downloading while playing you will lag out. When you lag out the server will slow everyone else down to let you catch up.

and thus is not fair to other players online experience; considering they paid to play. Now lets say you have FIOS @ 25mb down and 15mb up (highly suggested) you would just need some intermediate programming skills to change the script that pauses your downloads. SEE YOU AT THE LIBRARY.

You can minimize the game (if it doesn't crash of course) and resume the download. You might have to click the "resume" button twice.



But please don't download something while playing a multiplayer game. It negatively affects everyone else on the server you're playing on with lag.
