Steam Service: Crysis Multiplayer?

When I try to play multiplayer in Crysis it says I need a Gamespy account.

Why?

I bought it through Steam, why do I need Gamespy to play it?

No you have to have a Game spy account.

This is sort of like Borderlands multiplayer. You must create a new account, which should not be too big of a deal.
